Raw Thrills Launches Godzilla Kaiju Wars VR Ultimate; Top Gun: Maverick

The wait is officially over, as the complete and “ultimate” version of Godzilla Kaiju Wars VR by Raw Thrills is now available for existing locations to grab for their machines. Let’s see what this free update is all about, plus a quick mention on Top Gun: Maverick

Godzilla Goes Ultimate

When Godzilla Kaiju Wars VR was initially unveiled back in 2023, Raw Thrills stated that the game would ship with two chapters (levels), but that they would offer three additional chapters for free at a future point. Even without the full game in place, this has been one of the best (if not the best) performing VR arcade machines released to date. Attendees at both IAAPA 2024 and Amusement Expo 2025 were able to play those chapters, although they weren’t finished at the time.

The four new levels are:

• River Assault
• Tokyo Onslaught
• Gigan Attack
• Final Battle

The original two chapters have had their names changed (now: “Manda Mayhem” and “Megaguirus Invasion”) and their content enhanced. The two monitors now show a full screen display of the player scores, level achievements, and multiplayer winners once a chapter is complete. The scoring system has changed, with the game being “more competitive in multiplayer,” and there being more monsters to blast.

The Final Battle “ is a final showdown where players will fight all the Kaijus in a last effort to save the city from total destruction and stop Godzilla from getting the nuclear reactor.” You can only play it once all five chapters have been completed, which is a nice little play-through incentive. I was originally told that this level was extremely difficult, but that has likely been tuned since AEI.

What’s also interesting is that the press release they sent along states that the game uses “more robust headset and device handling, automatic calibration, and smoother framerates.”

Top Gun: Maverick Is Also Shipping

As a quick note, we’ll take this opportunity to point out that Raw Thrills’ other big (but non-VR) game has begun shipping out to all North American buyers who previously ordered it. Top Gun: Maverick began shipping at the end of last month, and we’ve already heard reports of some locations receiving theirs. This one should include all of its six missions with it, as opposed to some of them coming along later.

With these two releases, Raw Thrills is in a great spot going into the summer. It will be interesting to see which one comes out on top among the earnings charts!
